Case Studies - Tom Bradley International Terminal
Interior Improvements and Baggage Screening Facilities
Clark/McCarthy, a joint venture, contracted with Standard Drywall Inc. to participate in the modernization of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport. The $575.6 million project is the largest in the history of the City of Los Angeles and is expected to help LAX retain its competitiveness as the leading international gateway to the Western United States. This project marks the first major upgrade to TBIT’s one million square foot facility since the 1984 Olympics.
This project includes construction of new gate facilities to accommodate the next generation of super jumbo jetliners, the latest in baggage screening facilities, extensive renovations to all public areas of the terminal and support construction for electrical, signage, and HVAC upgrades. The project is scheduled to be completed by March 2010 and will debut as the 5th busiest airport in the world, with the Tom Bradley International Terminal accommodating over 9 million passengers each year.
In addition to meeting a demanding construction schedule, SDI is committed to maintaining strict LAX security requirements and obeying the safety considerations of construction personnel, the traveling public and LAX employees.
