SDI’s leadership team steers success with integrity, strategic vision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. By guiding and empowering future leaders, we cultivate strong relationships and drive exceptional project execution.

Bob Caya
As President of Standard Drywall, Bob Caya leads with integrity, humility, and a deep respect for people. With a degree in Accounting from the University of San Diego, Bob began his career in procurement at Hughes Aircraft Company before joining the family business as an estimator and project manager. From day one, he understood that leading a family company meant more than just performance—it meant honoring relationships, earning trust, and supporting the people behind the work.
Known for his integrity and follow-through, Bob has shaped SDI’s reputation through consistent leadership and trusted relationships—a philosophy that continues to define the company’s culture and most successful partnerships. He’s especially proud of SDI’s role in delivering landmark projects like the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center, where planning, alignment, and execution were key.
For Bob, supporting people is the foundation of exceptional work. His approachable leadership style—grounded in open communication, shared goals, and steady support—fosters trust and shared success. Bob believes that when people feel valued and empowered, great work naturally follows.
Outside of work, Bob finds joy in golf, skiing, fishing, and most of all, time with family. He and his wife, Anne, have been married for 35 years and are proud to see their three children carry on the family legacy in the wall and ceiling industry. Whether traveling or spending time with their grandsons, Bob and Anne remain rooted in the values that have always guided them—work hard, take care of people, and cherish the journey.

Blaine Caya
Blaine Caya has been a cornerstone of SDI for more than 30 years, serving as Executive Vice President and helping shape the company’s long-term vision and culture. A graduate of the University of San Diego with a BBA in Accounting, Blaine began his career at SDI as a purchasing agent before taking on project management roles in Utah and eventually leading the Corona office.
Having grown up around the business—working summers in the field as a framer, laborer, and stocker alongside his brothers and cousins—Blaine developed a deep appreciation for the hard work and craftsmanship of SDI’s field teams. Today, he provides strategic leadership and guidance across all aspects of the company, supporting project execution and client relationships while mentoring teams through every phase of work. One of his proudest professional achievements is leading SDI’s work on SoFi Stadium, a project that reflects the scale, coordination, and culture he strives to build every day.
Approachable and down-to-earth, Blaine is known as someone people want to work with. His leadership style centers on listening, recognizing others' efforts, and creating an environment where people feel seen, supported, and proud of the work they do. He believes in shaking every hand on site and remembering that business is always personal. Blaine takes pride in cultivating a fun, welcoming office culture—one where people feel at home, not just at work. He knows the staff personally, and his door is always open. Whether it’s navigating a tough project or swapping stories over lunch, Blaine shows up with honesty, heart, and sleeves rolled up.
Outside of work, he enjoys skiing and cheering on the Raiders with his two sons, Gavin and AJ, both of whom share his love for sports and the mountains. One of his most meaningful career moments was working side-by-side with his dad and best friend in Utah—an experience that reminded Blaine that work has always been about more than the job. It’s about family, purpose, and the people by your side.

Alicyn Taylor
As Chief Financial Officer of Standard Drywall since 2014, Alicyn Taylor brings a strategic, resilient, and highly analytical mindset to her leadership role. With a CPA and an MBA, she oversees all financial reporting and accounting functions across multiple corporate entities and divisions, spanning more than 500 active projects. Alicyn partners closely with both C-suite and operations leaders to align business goals, develop tactical plans, and navigate challenges in real time—always with a clear focus on long-term outcomes.
Before joining SDI, she spent nearly 14 years at Balfour Beatty Construction, working her way up to Vice President of Finance for the West Region. Her professional background spans change management, energy efficiency, and high-level forecasting, and she’s known for guiding teams through complex financial landscapes with clarity and resolve.
Alicyn thrives on variety and challenge—whether it’s negotiating multi-entity transactions or helping project teams balance field realities with financial targets. Her leadership style is direct, thoughtful, and growth-oriented: she supports mistakes that lead to learning, expects intentional decision-making, and approaches high-stakes choices with clarity over emotion. One of her proudest accomplishments is her education—a long and difficult journey that shaped the persistence and discipline she brings to every challenge. She’s especially proud of SDI’s commitment to its 1,200+ families and the company’s continuous pursuit of technical and financial excellence.
Outside of work, Alicyn recharges through snowboarding and weekends at the barn with her horses—two passions that challenge her physically and give her fast-paced mind a well-earned break. She and her husband are raising two teenage sons, Hudson and Luke, and she treasures time spent keeping up with them on the slopes. Her guiding philosophy: Work hard, trust God.

Ed Capparelli
Ed Capparelli brings nearly four decades of construction industry experience to his role as Vice President at Standard Drywall. He joined SDI in 2011 through the acquisition of Capparelli Contracting Co., a move that enabled the company to successfully expand into the healthcare sector—now one of its highest-performing markets.
With a professional degree in architecture from the New Jersey School of Architecture, Ed combines technical expertise with hands-on experience managing complex projects, particularly within OSHPD-regulated environments. His portfolio includes hospital towers, operating suites, seismic retrofits, and code upgrades. Of all the work he’s led, Ed is most proud of the Stanford Health Care project—for the team’s successful delivery on a project of extraordinary size, complexity, and logistical demands.
Ed leads by example and believes every challenge has a solution—what defines success is how you address and overcome it. He is known for his attention to detail, steady leadership, and strong commitment to client satisfaction. While he built his early reputation in healthcare, Ed now plays a key role in major efforts across all of SDI’s core markets. He also serves as President of Seamless Care, a specialty interiors company delivering Divisions 10, 11, and 12 with a streamlined, high-touch approach. For Ed, the greatest reward comes from building lasting partnerships—many of which have evolved into lifelong friendships.
Outside of work, Ed enjoys golfing, boating, and traveling with his wife, sons, and grandsons—making the most of time spent together as a family. A lifelong New York Giants fan, he met his wife, Christina, at a Giants game in 1987—and cheering on the team has remained a cherished family tradition.

Jeff Miller
With more than four decades of experience in commercial construction, Jeff Miller serves as Chief Operating Officer at Standard Drywall, where he provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across the company’s seven offices. After earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural Drafting from North Dakota State College of Science, Jeff began his career with a structural steel fabricator before transitioning into the wall and ceiling industry. He spent a decade gaining field and project leadership experience before co-founding a specialty contracting firm that expanded from two to over 2,000 employees in ten years, completing $250 million in construction annual contracts.
In 2008, the Caya family invited Jeff to join SDI as COO. He was drawn to the company’s family culture, values, and business philosophy, which reflected his own values and long-term vision. Since then, Jeff has helped guide SDI’s continued growth, with a specialized focus on fast-track, complex, design-build projects across the hospitality and gaming sectors. He thrives in high-pressure environments where creativity, coordination, and resilience are essential. Notable projects include the expansive Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, Oklahoma, as well as landmark contributions to ARIA at CityCenter in Las Vegas and the Wilshire Grand Center in Los Angeles.
Jeff leads with intention and a strong belief in the value of shared learning. He is open about both successes and past challenges, viewing each project as an opportunity to learn and grow together as a team. He believes he gains something meaningful from every project throughout his career—and leaves a part of himself on many of them. His leadership style is collaborative and solutions-oriented—grounded in curiosity, consistency, and a deep appreciation for the craftsmen doing the work. He finds purpose in helping others develop, navigate challenges, and celebrate hard-earned successes together.
Jeff and his wife of 32 years, Holly, now call Montana home, having relocated after frequent visits to see their two daughters, who landed there after college. He set up a small office in Montana and splits his time between there and SDI’s offices and project sites across the southern and western United States—traveling frequently to meet with clients and support teams wherever he’s needed.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, following NBA basketball, and getting outdoors to ski, hike, and fish whenever he can. For Jeff, nature is humbling—its scale, detail, and interdependence a reminder of the power of collaboration. He sees construction the same way: a process that demands care, coordination, and commitment to bring a shared vision to life.

Matthew Ishmael
As Director of Operations at Standard Drywall, Matthew Ishmael brings nearly two decades of construction experience and a results-driven, hands-on leadership style to the role. Since joining SDI in 2015, he has helped lead some of the company’s most challenging and high-profile projects, including the Chase Center and the New Stanford Hospital. The Chase Center project, in particular, marked a turning point in Matt’s leadership journey. As Senior Project Manager for one of SDI’s largest and most time-sensitive contracts, he brought together team members from multiple branches—Northern California, Orange County, San Diego, and Salt Lake City—and built a cohesive, high-performing unit in a fast-paced, high-risk environment. It was a true “sink or swim” moment that accelerated his growth as a leader and deepened his belief in the power of team synergy.
Matt went on to lead SDI’s Northern California operations as a Project Executive before transitioning into his current role, based in Corona, where he oversees project teams and regional leadership across California and the Intermountain West. He plays a key role in guiding teams through every phase of project delivery—from preconstruction strategy to final execution—while also helping SDI pursue new business opportunities in key markets.
Matt demonstrates servant leadership—he’s approachable, available, and intentional about developing people and giving credit where it’s due. He sets high expectations while offering hands-on mentorship, encouraging team members to stretch into new roles and build confidence. As one of the younger members of SDI’s executive team, Matt is recognized for his ambition, loyalty, and results-oriented execution. He surrounds himself with strong, capable people and makes it a priority to invest in their growth, knowing they’re key to the company’s long-term success.
Outside of work, Matt is a devoted husband and proud dad who lights up when talking about his family. He’s especially proud of Sophie’s strength and Evelyn’s heart—while Teddy the family Cavapoo keeps things lively at home. He and his wife, Laura, are passionate travelers and self-proclaimed foodies who make it a priority to explore other countries and cultures with their daughters. He’s also an avid Baltimore Ravens fan and a fantasy football fanatic—managing his roster with the same intensity and attention to detail he brings to the jobsite.
