Wyoming Capitol Square Project
Scope of Work:
acoustical ceilings, drywall finishing, gypsum board, hollow metal door frame installation, insulation, interior metal stud framing, plaster and sheathing.
Description:
This multi-phase restoration revitalized the Wyoming State Capitol—an iconic National Historic Landmark—along with major upgrades to surrounding government facilities within the Capitol Square campus. The project restored the Capitol’s original architectural character while integrating modern building systems, accessibility improvements, and expanded public spaces to support contemporary legislative operations. Intricate plaster restoration, refined interior finishes, and carefully coordinated wall and ceiling assemblies were essential to preserving historic integrity while meeting current performance standards.
SDI contributed to the craftsmanship and precision required for a project of this complexity through comprehensive framing, wall, and ceiling work across both restored historic spaces and newly modernized areas. Careful integration of backing systems, fire-resistive assemblies, and specialty detailing ensured compatibility with historic finishes while accommodating modern code requirements. The result is an award-winning civic campus that honors Wyoming’s architectural legacy and demonstrates how thoughtful construction can extend the life of a historic civic institution.
