Description:

The Golden 1 Center is a 780,000-square-foot, LEED Platinum-certified sports and entertainment venue in the heart of downtown Sacramento, developed on a portion of the former Downtown Plaza site. Home to the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, the 17,600-seat arena was designed to host world-class concerts, sporting events, and community gatherings while strengthening connections within the city’s urban core. The work included extensive demolition of an underground parking structure and adjacent buildings to clear the site for the new multi-purpose facility.

Delivered in roughly half the time of a typical arena, the project utilized seven phased permit packages to accelerate design and construction. SDI provided the full interior and exterior framing and drywall scopes, supported by early preconstruction and BIM coordination to optimize systems integration and sequencing within the fast-track schedule. With 83 luxury suites and three premium-level clubs, including skyboxes with panoramic views into the bowl and across the city, Golden 1 Center reshaped Sacramento’s skyline and set a national benchmark for sustainable, high-performance venue design.
