Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Renovation
Scope of Work:
Acoustical sealants, air/moisture barrier, cold-formed metal framing, drywall finishing, fireproofing, firestopping, gypsum board, hollow metal door frame installation, insulation, interior metal stud framing, lath, plaster
Description:
The modernization of the nearly 100-year-old National Historic Landmark introduced a new seven-story Scholarship Tower on the south sideline, delivering premium suites, loge boxes, club seating, expanded press facilities, and hospitality spaces while carefully preserving the Coliseum’s historic bowl and iconic peristyle. All seating throughout the stadium was replaced, and overall capacity was reduced to approximately 77,500 to improve sightlines, comfort, and accessibility while meeting current life-safety and ADA standards.
In addition to the new vertical construction, the renovation included comprehensive upgrades to concourses, concessions, restrooms, lighting, sound, video displays, and core building systems, dramatically enhancing the fan experience while extending the life of the historic venue. The work was executed in tightly phased construction to allow USC football games and other events to continue throughout the renovation, requiring complex sequencing and coordination within a highly constrained, active site.
