Description:

As part of the multi-phase Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Replacement and Seismic Modernization Program, Phase 6 expanded the campus with two new inpatient pavilions—the Compton Pavilion and Arlington Pavilion—adding approximately 134,000 square feet of acute-care space and 92 licensed beds. Delivered adjacent to ongoing hospital operations, the phase supported Cottage Health’s transition to a modern, private-room hospital model while maintaining uninterrupted patient care and advancing SB 1953 seismic compliance.

Phase 6 housed several of the hospital’s most specialized, high-acuity functions, including Cottage Children’s Medical Center, the NICU, PICU, oncology, telemetry, and inpatient dialysis—each requiring rigorous life-safety, acoustic, and infection-control coordination. SDI supported these environments through precise framing and drywall execution within dense MEP zones and highly regulated clinical spaces, contributing to improved operational efficiency, enhanced family-centered care, and expanded regional access to pediatric and specialty services on California’s Central Coast.
