acoustical sealants, BIM, cold-formed metal framing, drywall finishing, firestopping, gypsum board, hollow metal door frame installation, interior metal stud preconstruction, sheathing, specialties
Description:
The 170,000-square-foot academic and performance facility was designed to support one of BYU’s largest arts programs. The multi-level building brings together instructional spaces, rehearsal halls, practice rooms, and multiple performance venues within a single, coordinated environment. Large ensemble rehearsal rooms and a primary concert hall are complemented by smaller recital and instructional spaces, supporting a broad range of musical instruction and public performance while maintaining strict acoustic control throughout.
SDI supported the project through early coordination and BIM integration, delivering complex interior framing and enclosure systems aligned with the building’s demanding acoustic requirements. Precise layout and carefully coordinated wall and ceiling assemblies were essential to achieving sound isolation, durability, and code compliance across adjacent performance and instructional spaces. The completed facility provides BYU with a high-performing home for music education, designed for daily use, long-term reliability, and acoustic excellence.
