UC Davis, The Green at West Village

The Green at West Village is a 1.3-million-square-foot student housing community providing 3,290 beds across 1,247 apartment-style units for graduate and transfer students at UC Davis. At the time of construction, it was the largest student housing project in U.S. history and a cornerstone of North America’s largest net-zero energy community.

As part of a joint venture, SDI delivered the project’s exterior and interior finish system (EIFS) across nine four-story residential buildings and multiple support facilities. Early design engagement, value-engineering collaboration, and disciplined sequencing enabled the exterior envelope to be completed six months ahead of schedule. SDI’s design-phase input on detailing, inspection readiness, and material training supported consistent execution across the multi-building campus. The result is a high-performing, energy-efficient living environment that sets a national benchmark for sustainable student housing.
