Description:
Huāxyacac Hall is a 200,000-square-foot first-year residence hall that expands San Diego State University’s campus housing network. The six-story facility, designed in Mission Revival style, provides housing for approximately 600 students and includes community lounges, study rooms, a communal kitchen, and outdoor terraces. An adjacent courtyard features a separate 8,000-square-foot amenity building that houses the Aztec Market.
As SDSU’s first LEED Gold residential community, the project incorporates energy-efficient systems and sustainable design strategies to deliver a high-performance living environment for incoming students. SDI provided the complete framing and drywall scope for the residence hall, including constructability reviews, BIM coordination, efficient sequencing, and quality execution across all wall and ceiling systems. Our work contributed to a resilient, student-focused community that enhances comfort, safety, and long-term campus connectivity.
