Description:
South Campus Plaza at San Diego State University is a 225,000-square-foot mixed-use development that redefines the southern gateway to campus through sustainable design and community integration. The project comprises two cold-formed steel load-bearing residential buildings housing more than 600 students, 34,000 square feet of ground-level retail, and a six-level parking structure. Designed to promote walkability and transit-oriented living adjacent to the SDSU Transit Center, the development features landscaped open spaces and achieves LEED Silver certification in support of the university’s sustainability goals.
SDI provided comprehensive framing and drywall services for both exterior and interior wall and ceiling systems, including structural framing and three-coat plaster façades. Delivered under rigorous State Fire Marshal oversight, the project required disciplined coordination, early preconstruction planning, and BIM integration to ensure compliance, efficiency, and long-term performance. The result is a dynamic live-work hub that enhances campus life while strengthening SDSU’s connection to the broader community.
